1. 会 huì

能愿动词“会”用在动词前表示通过学习而获得某种能力，它的否定式是“不会”。例如：

The modal verb“会”is used before a verb, indicating acquiring an ability through learning. Its negative form is“不会”. For example:

我会写汉字。

Wǒ huì xiě Hànzì.

I can write Chinese characters.

我不会做中国菜。

Wǒ bú huì zuò Zhōngguó cài.

I can't cook Chinese food.

你妈妈会说汉语吗？

Nǐ māma huì shuō Hànyǔ ma?

Can your mother speak Chinese?

我会开车。

Wǒ huì kāichē.

I can drive.

2. 能 néng

能愿动词“能”一般用在动词前，与动词整体做谓语，表示一种能力或者可能。“能”还常用于疑问句式“能......吗？”中，表示请求、希望获得许可。例如：

The modal verv“能” is usually used before a verb to form the predicate indicating an ability or a possibity. The interrogative sentence structure“能......吗？”is often used to indicate a request or hope for peimission. For example:

明天下午我能去商店。

Míngtiān xiàwǔ wǒ néng qù shāngdiàn.

I can go to the store tomorrow afternoon.

你能在这儿写你的名字吗？

Nǐ néng zài zhèr xiě nǐ de míngzi ma?

Can you write your name here?

我能坐这儿吗？

Wǒ néng zuò zhèr ma?

Can I sit here?

我能进来吗？

Wǒ néng jìnlái ma ?
