Mandarin Go | All the Chinese Character Writing RulesFirst of all, it is important to know that the order of the strokes of Chinese characters is important because they allow you to better trace the characters and get used to writing and remembering them. Some rules are general and others are more specific to particular characters. I advise you to use these rules to learn how to trace the characters well from the beginning of your learning of Chinese. Here are the seven essential rules of the order of strokes in a sinogram: Draw first horizontally and then vertically. Draw the line going down to the left and then the line going down to the right. Write from top to bottom. Write from left to right. Draw the outer lines before the inner lines. Close after filling in the frame. When a character is symmetrical, draw the middle line first. Any beauty of Chinese characters depends largely on the balance of character inside this square in which the plot is made. To practice calligraphy, the Chinese use different models of grids in which they draw the characters.
